Photography  has always interested me, maybe watching my Dad take endless photos of my sister and I when we were growing up influenced me. Or maybe it’s just in my genes, who knows?

In this day and age with social media and mobile phones everyone has easy access to taking photos and sharing them with others. This is why I love Instagram so much, little snapshots of people’s daily lives in little squares … Who cares if you’re not a great photographer, everyone gets a chance to be creative in their own Instagram feed.

My wonderful husband bought me my first DSLR at Christmas as I decided I’d like to take my photography to another level. Initially I just used it in auto mode while I got used to it and then decided to try it in manual and get used to the different modes and what they do. I’m far from perfect and make mistakes but I’m learning and enjoying myself while I do so.

I have taken my children out to different places and used them as models for lots of photos, I enjoy taking shots of them while they’re playing around and managed to get some good photos of them while they’re relaxed and they haven’t noticed I’ve got my camera lens pointed at them. Sneaky mama!

A few people have said I should go professional, you know what? I’d absolutely love to, so what’s stopping me? ….. Confidence in myself. That’s what. But maybe I just need to take that leap and try it, ‘cos I think I’d regret it if I don’t .
